This is an online, interactive
Short-Course that teaches the student how to perform the
DC test procedure. Using illustrations and animations, this
course presents the student with a schematic view of a DC
assembly and guides the student, step by step, through the
two DC tests. These tests include:
- Test 1 – Check Valve 1 Tightness
- Test 2 – Check Valve 2 Tightness
Following the procedure,
the student is presented with two troubleshooting scenarios:
- Troubleshooting Leaking Shutoff Valve:
Continuous Test Cock 3 Discharge
- Troubleshooting Leaking Shutoff Valve:
DC Test 2
After
the troubleshooting section, there are two simulations.
The simulations allow the student to perform the procedure
repeatedly to reinforce the information taught in the first
section.
This is an easy, comfortable presentation of the DC test
procedure which strictly adheres to the technical testing
standards.
- Interactive Macromedia Flash animations
that guide the student through the procedure and allow
the student to practice the DC test procedure.
- Synchronized audio reinforces the text.
- Self Check quiz questions challenge the
student to demonstrate their knowledge
- Print version
of the DC test procedure that the student can use to follow
along and make notes.
Students who can benefit from
this course are anyone who needs to prepare for their certification
or recertification test and does not regularly perform the
DC test procedure. Additionally, anyone who supervises backflow
testers and needs to understand the basics of the DC test
procedure. Finally, anyone who has been away from the field
and is looking for a refresher on the DC test procedure
would benefit.
To successfully complete this
course, the student should have a basic understanding of
roles and responsibilities of backflow testers. They should
be familiar with backflow test equipment and how it is used.
Upon completion of this course, students should
be able to:
- Identify the basic components of an DC
valve assembly
- Describe the purpose of the DC valve test
procedure
- Describe check valve 1 pass/fail requirement
- Describe check valve 2 pass/fail requirement
- Perform check valve 1 test
- Perform check valve 2 test
- Troubleshoot common problems
