Course Description BF1001-02

Course Title:
RP Test Procedure and Practice — Reduced Pressure Principle Backflow Prevention Assembly Test Procedure and Practice.
Details:
Course Number: BF1001-02
Price in USD: $40 for 30 days access to the course
Course Duration: 2 hours (approximate)
Format: Web-based
Languages Offered: English Only
Course Description:

This is an online, interactive Short-Course that teaches the student how to perform the RP test procedure. Using illustrations and animations, this course presents the student with a schematic view of an RP assembly and guides the student, step by step, through all three RP tests. These tests include:

  • Test 1 – Relief Valve Opening Point
  • Test 2 – Check Valve 2 Tightness
  • Test 3 – Check Valve 1 Tightness

Following the procedure, the student is presented with one simulation for each of the three tests. The simulations allow the student to perform the procedure repeatedly to reinforce the information taught in the first section.
This is an easy, comfortable presentation of the RP test procedure which strictly adheres to the technical testing standards.

Course Features:
  • Interactive Macromedia Flash animations that guide the student through the procedure and allow the student to practice the RP test procedure.
  • Synchronized audio reinforces the text.
  • Self Check quiz questions challenge the student to demonstrate their knowledge
  • Print version of the RP test procedure that the student can use to follow along and make notes.
Who Can Benefit:
Students who can benefit from this course are anyone who needs to prepare for their certification or recertification test and does not regularly perform the RP test procedure. Additionally, anyone who supervises backflow testers and needs to understand the basics of the RP test procedure. Finally, anyone who has been away from the field and is looking for a refresher on the RP test procedure would benefit.
Prerequisites:
To successfully complete this course, the student should have a basic understanding of roles and responsibilities of backflow testers. They should be familiar with backflow test equipment and how it is used.
Skills Gained:

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:

  • Identify the basic components of an RP valve assembly
  • Describe the purpose of the RP valve test procedure
  • Describe the relief valve pass/fail requirement
  • Describe check valve 2 pass/fail requirement
  • Describe check valve 1 pass/fail requirement
  • Perform the relief valve test.
  • Perform check valve 2 test
  • Perform check valve 1 test
